For years, my mom had been talking to my brother (Colin) and I about buying a camper and traveling out west. By years I mean possibly more than 10, so when the idea of going on this trip was mentioned again this year, I didn't believe it—until we bought the plane ticket. Here we are, on our first out of 8 national parks and 5 states.

Denver, Colorado

Our first stop: Denver, Colorado. Holy guacamole, Colorado is beautiful. Once we got out of the city, the landscape reminded me of Alaska a bit. After landing, we grabbed lunch and headed to Red Rocks Amphitheater. If you don't know what Red Rocks is, it's basically a concert venue that is embedded in Colorado's infamous reddish-colored rocks. The organic acoustics are created by the enormous walls of natural rock. The seats are carved into the landscape with the stage down below. Let me tell you, it is now VERY high up on my bucket list to see a concert there. Imagine experiencing your favorite band performing underneath a sea of stars, the music echoing off the staggering mountains around you. Doesn't that sound AMAZING? We didn't see a concert this time, but it was still so cool to see.

Estes Park

Dramatic picture of me looking out at Estes Park (hehe) and the sign. Estes Park is where we stayed for the duration of our time in Colorado.

After Red Rocks, we went grocery shopping and then to our adorable cottage at The Lazy R Cottages. I TOTALLY recommend staying here if you're planning on visiting the Rocky Mountains. It's affordable and only 3 minutes away from the park entrance! After settling in we had pizza and enjoyed the dry Colorado evening.

Short Blurb:

Since my cat, Thai-bo, passed away a few weeks before we left on our trip, I decided to bring a little plush that looks like him and take pictures of it in front of the views! So look out for the little Thai-bo photoshoot at the end of my blogs. :) This one is at our cabin, the Eagles Nest the first day.
